Following the entry into force of US tariffs on steel and aluminium on 12 March, the European Commission responded with a two-stage approach, consisting of the reimposition of suspended measures from the previous trade dispute with Trump (2018 & 2020) and a new package of countermeasures targeting €18 billion worth of US exports.
